Top 3 bookkeeping apps

Top 3 bookkeeping apps | Ashored

For small business owners constantly on the go, having the right mobile bookkeeping app is a huge game changer.

Not only will they allow you to create and send invoices on the go but they also allow you to track your finances and record your business expenses. With so many bookkeeping apps around though it can be difficult to decide which is best for. To help you, Ashored has put together a list of our top 3 mobile bookkeeping apps breaking each of them down into overall experience, mobile capabilities and pricing:

QuickBooks

QuickBooks is not only loved by us here at Ashored but it is also the most popular cloud based accounting software available. It offers multiple versions with state of the art features that allow you to choose the one that suits your business best.

Overall user experience

The QuickBooks interface is one of the simplest and user friendliest available on the market. User reviews prove it and based on App Stores review, the app currently has 4.3* out of 5.

Mobile Capabilities

Like many apps you won't be able to access all of QuickBooks capabilities on the go but you can still:

  • create and send invoices,

  • capture receipts,

  • categorise expenses,

  • reconcile bank statements and

  • view profit and loss reports.

Pricing

The QuickBooks mobile app is free with your QuickBooks Online monthly subscription. This means that once you have registered for QuickBooks Online you can simply download the app and start using it. QuickBooks Online subscriptions range from £8 - £27 per month depending on the size of your business and features required.

Xero

Xero also offer a great mobile app that is designed with business owners on the go in mind.

Overall user experience

Although the Xero app currently offers many of the same features as the QuickBooks app they are currently not as intuitive and user friendly. This is reflected in customer satisfaction reviews where it currently scores 3.5* out of 5 in the App Store.

Mobile Capabilities

Through Xero's mobile app you will be able to:

  • reconcile bank statements,

  • send invoices,

  • capture receipts and

  • attach receipts to expenses.

Pricing

Again Xero's mobile app is free to download but you will need to have a Xero subscription in order to use it. Xero subscriptions vary from £10 - £27 per month according to the package and capabilities that you require.

Kashflow

Kashflow is an accounting app specifically aimed at UK small businesses.

Overall user experience

Kashflow markets itself with the phrase "no accounting knowledge required!". Although their software is relatively intuitive the app on the other hand seems to offer very limited functionality. This is reflected in the App Store reviews where Kashflow scores and average of 3.5*.

Mobile Capabilities

The Kashflow mobile app allows you to:

  • create and send quotes,

  • invoice on the go and

  • view a snapshot of your business

Pricing

Like with the previous two apps, the Kashflow app is free when you pay the monthly software subscription. This varies from £8 - £21 per month depending on the features and benefits that you require.
